Oh, and some more words: I say this every year but this year I absolutely am going to see all the Oscar-nominated movies (which I guess will be announced later this week) before the Academy Awards.
I always watch the Golden Globes and the Oscars much to the dismay of the rest of my family. Except the dogs. They are pretty good to do whatever I want and they never make fun of my TV choices. Although Stella will howl through any CSI type of show with sirens. Or any type of series or movie or parade with sirens. Or dogs. She's genius like that.
Have you seen any movies you think are Oscar-worthy? Could you not care less?
Next on my list: Revolutionary Road.
Oh yeah! And The Reader. I wanna see that one too.

ReplyDeleteOh, I love the Golden Globes and the Oscars, too! It's so much fun to revel in all the excess. I was in L.A. recently, and the highlight of my trip was my day touring Hollywood, Beverly Hills & Warner Bros. If you could have seen Brad Pitt & Jennifer Anniston's old house -- it was totally NOT what I expected to see a wanna-be architect living in! But I guess that's a comment I should leave for The Real Estalker!
ReplyDeletePam, I read once that their design and decor tastes were a huge point of friction. He said Jennifer's decorating taste was like his grandma's. And that was while they were married. I always remembered that and thought, hmmmmm, that's awkward.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to seeing Milk, Meryl Streep in Doubt and have yet to see Rachael Getting Married. During the summer, the NYTimes reviewed a French movie done in English subtitles called Tell No One. It recieved glowing reviews so I decided to read the book since I couldn't find the movie anywhere. The book was glued to my hands until I finished. The author is from New Jersey, Harlan Coben. Anyone see it by any chance? Thanks, Kathi
ReplyDeleteI just went and Revoluntiary Road last night! Both the boyfriend and I thought it was pretty good. It does make you think about your relationships. I also would love to see Milk and Rachel Getting Married from hearing about the reviews.
ReplyDeleteI want to see Milk. I left Rachel Getting Married because I went with my daughter and it was upsetting her. I hate wrestling movies but I need to see Mickey Rourke and I also wanted to see Doubt so Meryl Streep can redeem herself from Mamma Mia for me.

ReplyDeleteI'm going to try to redeem myself with "The Wrestler." I love Aronofsky's movies even when they make me uncomfortable.
Okay, I just saw Revolutionary Road and I was disappointed. It wasn't an evolved enough storyline to be believable, the kids were always missing. I'll do a post later on my Oscar choices.
ReplyDeleteMy comments on the last few films I have seen --Frost/Nixon was very good. Milk was great. Slumdog Millionaire was fantastic and Let the Right One In was very good but very odd. (It was one of those films that you dont appreciate until the next day or so but I suppose it was exactly what you would expect from a sub-titled Swedish vampire flick.)
